2008年7月，朗盛全新的高性能橡胶研究中心在中国青岛正式落成. 该世界级研究中心毗邻青岛科技大学，是朗盛公司与青岛科技大学密切合作的成果。这个研究中心总投资规模约为1600万美元，将由朗盛工业橡胶制品业务部、丁基橡胶业务部和顺丁橡胶业务部共同运营管理。

职位描述如下（仅英文）：
Senior Lab Specialist
Job responsibilities:
1. Conduct day-to-day chemical synthesis, sample testing and experimental data processing activities of the chemistry lab; allocate resources appropriately in accordance with reaction needs, set up experimental apparatus and ensure safety operation;
2. Provide reliable and accurate technical support to polymer synthesis projects initiated by both internal & external requests. Carry out polymer research projects independently. Design and implement the design of experiments, and record, analyze, interpret and report research project data. Prepare experimental reports and generate comprehensive data report sheets. Proactively participate in our internal seminars, document high quality research reports and contribute to patent strategy development.
3. Work with research chemists to design and develop polymeric and elastomer materials; be able to search literature effectively and systematically according to assigned research projects, and keep up-to-date with advances in rubber related fields; utilize fundamental material/polymer science theories, principles and analytical techniques and tools to analyze and identify reaction experimental problems, resolve synthesis and product issues, and provide technical solutions for organic and polymer research projects under the guidance of chemists in the research center;
4. Design protocols or develop reaction operation and sample testing procedures for research labs; assist our chemists in continuously evaluate and improve standard operational procedures, laboratory facilities as well as the testing competency; maintain lab inventory, ensure supply of all necessary materials, correctly collect and deposit wastes; maintain and calibrate analytical instruments, perform simple debug and trouble-shooting for instruments and equipments.
5. Network internally with other LANXESS business units and externally with customers, universities and research institutes for technical service and training. Provide training, guidance and support for new staff and university students.
Job Requirement:
1. Master Degree or PhD in polymer/rubber related area;
2. For Master degree candidates, at least one to two year experience in organic/polymer synthesis research lab;
3. Have strong background and hands-on knowledge/experience in chemistry, polymer science and material science fields;
4. Understand polymer and rubber technology and able to operate high pressure chemical reaction systems and analytical equipments, such as GC, DSC, FT-IR and GPC;
5. Good oral and written skill in English;
6. Good skill in data management and report writing

RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Job responsibilities:
· Serve as project leader for complex technical projects, lab analyses and trials for process improvements, raw materials, equipment, specifications, customer troubleshooting or application development.
· Lead the investigation and evaluation of the feasibility of potential products, process improvements, raw materials, potential hazards, or equipment by planning and designing the required lab bench work.
· Develop and supervise training programs for lab personnel/ graduate students by advising and consulting in the areas of expertise.
· Lead interdepartmental development projects in which modern techniques are explored for applications with the company's product, process, and/or materials.
· Propose technical projects which will enhance LANXESS business performance
· Identifies opportunities for technical/research projects
· Designs and executes investigations around complex problems that involves more than one area of specialization
· Acts as advisor and gives technical direction for graduate students in Qingdao R&D center
Require PhD degree in polymer/rubber related area, with 2-3 years experience preferred
